Introduction
The department provides regular out-patient clinics at the six branches of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has facilities, including 90 in-patient beds, at the three main branches of Taipei City Hospital. The department provides well equipped rehabilitation treatment units, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and a pediatric rehabilitation unit. The physical therapy unit has electrotherapy, a hydrotherapy room, a therapeutic exercise room and a gymnasium; In the occupational therapy unit, there are rooms for functional occupational therapy, a sensori-integration treatment room and a room for activities of daily living. We provides electromyographic and soft tissue ECHO examinations.

Diagnosis and treatment of the following categories:
Musculoskeletal system including lower back pain, TMJ syndrome, nuchal pain,l heel pain, sciatica, spur formation, muscle strain, myofascial pain syndrome, tennis elbow, trigger finger, tendon sprain or inflammation, sport injury, frozen shoulder, osteoarthritis (lumbar, cervical spine or knee), rheumatoid arthritis, hernited intervertebral disc, scoliosis, the sequela of orthopedic operations (joint contracture, muscle wasting and the sequela of polio) and AS).
Neurological system including limb numbness, carpal tunnel syndrome, facial palsy, dropped foot, dropped hand, hemiplegia, quadriplegia, Parkinsonism, stroke, spinal cord injury, the sequelae of brain tumor operations, the sequela of brain trauma or brain infection, aphasia, apraxia of speech, autism, delayed language development, dysarthria peripheral neuropathy or injury, myopathy and polyneuropathy.
Pediatric physical therapy including cerebral palsy, torticollis, toe in, toe out, flat foot, genu valgus and scoliosis.
Other rehabilitations including asthma, COPD, CAD, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, cancer rehabilitation and diabetes rehabilitation.

The physical therapy unit includes an electrotherapyand heat therapy room, an therapeutic exercise room, a hydrotherapy room and a group room. The treatments include infrared, ultraviolet, hydrocollator, paraffin bath, fluidotherapy, cold pack, short wave diathermy, ultrasound diathermy, low power laser, whirlpool hydrotherapy, cervical traction, pelvic traction, massage, electric stimulation, transcutaneous nerve stimulation, interferential wave, circulator and therapeutic exercise.
Occupational therapy unit includes functional occupational therapy, activities of daily living, sensori-integration treatment, thermal splint marking and speech therapy.
